All my world of warcraft blogging will be moved to my blogger blog until I can get a domain for it. You can see it here
Because my life can never truly follow a series of norms.. I know about a dozen folks that play World Of Warcraft, and all of them.. ALL of them. Are on separate servers. I began leveling a Blood Elf Warlock last night, from 1-5 was a breeze, but mentally I was too tired to do anything.. so I do what all elves do when they are dozing off playing wow.. I danced.
Anyway, so now if you’re looking for a squishy little warlock to kill on horde side on Frostmane.. Look for me. But get me while you can, cause if I get this chick(I never see blood elf chicks.. so I’m avoiding other peoples norms) up to the level Mcgoo is I’ll be flattening folks.. Maybe even raiding! But probably I’d prefer just killin folk. With the added advantage that I won’t have to worry about undead folks and their fear resistant Will of the Forsaken.. This may actually be MORE fun than Mcgoo.
Mcgoo is too high up NOT to keep going though. My idea was to get a crapton of gold, then put ‘goo on another server. Leaving a lot of that gold with my “army” of alts. I assume leveling my new lock on a PvP server will prove much more difficult, but honestly.. I don’t care. I like squaring off against others, my issue will come from a lvl 70 “holy moley” guy stompin on my lvl 10 butt. THAT would tick me off. Despite the fact that mcgoo will eventually raid silvermoon city and kill all the blood elves he can find.. I fully intend on going there and stomping ppl, for no other reason than, I think it’d be fun.
Sadistic, I know.. but hey.. alls fair in WoW. That’s what I say anyway..
I plan on starting a new blog for WoW stuff, since WoW has taken over this blog.. and I’ll model it after some folks I know who already have “kickin” blogs. You’ll see.. cause I’ll TELL you to see.. hehe
Sometimes even the best of us make mistakes..
Ok I was running around felwood when I was off sick, amid a haze of antibiotics and pain killers, when a guildmate (more appropriately the leader) asked if I’d like to get “run through” .. I dunno now.. scholomance?
Anywho I fell out of my chair and quickly responded affirmatively. Things were going relatively crappy (that place is nuts), but the experience was good. Then I had a RL issue occur, kid related. So I went afk. Things got much more out of hand than I thought they would and in the end, I got back 16 minutes later. Well I was back but everyone else was not only gone from the instance, but gone from the game as well.
#1.. I hate it when people do that. It hasn’t happened often that I’d been screwed in a group, but it has happened, and those ppl got 2 in game days to get some sort of explanation to me. Otherwise they got /ignored.
#2 I have only 2 times had this occur to me (hey, kids.. they’re a priority, period), and the first time the group sucked majorly anyway, so I apologized to the person I felt was carrying the team besides me and went on and just forgot it.
This time was different, I was in a charity run for experience and some loot. And I felt crappy for letting someone down who was basically doing something boring (for him) to help others (including me) out. I felt terrible. I FEEL terrible. I sent them all relatively decent amounts of gold as an apology, since I can’t be sure they parted without cursing my name. I had no demotion in the guild (luckily), but I am still unhappy with what happened. The leader got the lionshare of the gold I sent, mostly cause he went out of his way to get me in this place, and did all the work (the other team mates there were low like me and couldn’t really deal much in the way of damage). I know at least one of you guys preaches on the scum of teams that do this kinda crap, and I am sure I’ll get a big negative on the comments for it.. Just tell me, when you preach.. if you’ve done it before, how’d you recover? and How would you allot for someone to recover if they did it to you?
If the song is right, there is a season, turn turn turn.. and a time, to every purpose.. under heaven.
Tonight will be my night to Mine, a time to fish.. a time to smelt, a time to fish.. a time to cry when I loose the fish…
My goals are simple
Thats it.. I am doing well and could probably use the rested bonus so I may go running around mining iron till I can’t find anymore and then move along.. I think gold is kinda rare, so thats something I’ll ignore, but then to steel.. then.. Well who knows what comes next, cause I sure don’t. I’ll be mining like wild and then hearthing back to IF or someplace close with a trainer, and a forge ( I personally love the great forge at ironforge.. really cool lookin) After I’ve mined all I can handle.. I’ll go off to SW or darn and go fishing.. with a satchel full of baits (I heard this was useful, but dunno..). Maybe find some white gloves (hehe) and look for an enchanter to embue them with increased fishing skill. Who knows, but the idea isn’t to MAKE money so much as to set myself up so I CAN make more money later. I’m not poor by any standard, but until I have 50g more than my flying mount costs.. I won’t be happy.
Luckily at this level almost nothing is BOE, you have to run an instance to get it.. So nothing to blow my money on for THIS character anyway.
Well I’ve been in felwood for what seems like years, but actually only about a full level. I am so SICK of this place. Mobs spread out.. No one seems to be high enough level.. boring boring boring.
Not much in the way of leather or ores for me to mine either. So what results is, the main cash cow of this area is felcloth. And the schmucks it drops from are these ridiculous nimrods in jadefire something or other. Anyway, their droprate is pretty low to boot, but this is (as told to me) the only place to really grab this stuff. The mobs I was looking for were being farmed by some 70’s helping guildies out, so I had no chance. So I went running up there to farm for felcloth. I was doing my hellfire farming technique, which involves at least 4 mobs.. all with siphon life, and corruption and then me standing amidst them doing hellfire. This works GREAT for skinning, and the siphon life refills my life little by little to negate SOME of the hellfire affect. I can do it with more mobs without issue if I have a healer.. and this is an incredibly effective grinding technique, provided you have a priest that will overheal you to keep your hellfire pumping.
The place I needed to go to was Jaedenar (or something) and there are mostly casters (candy) and demons(uber-candy). Imps are a 1 shot with shadowburn, so I love those guys, where the felhunters/guards are more of an issue. Felhunters I use the VW to tank first while I drain tank someone close. THEN I drop the boom on them with shadowbolt/burn’s. These suckers do a move called manaburn, which sucks but isn’t huge.. unless you’re a lock and that means I have to drain my life to get more mana, ergo this move is like a decent attack to me. If you let the VW tank long enough, the felhunter will drain VW’s mana, and not mine. This is tricky though cause sometimes they just turn around and manaburn me.
Felguards are nice.. I grouped with a guy after I was done, and enslaved one to attack another one.. and just laughed.. He was like.. you are clearing a room without us doing anything.. to which I said.. “Yeah but if you see him turn around wail on him!”. The felguards don’t really shock me with power, but they are huge and really meancing looking. VW works for me, I just sprinkle some dots, drain.. and if nightfall proc’s.. BOOM.. end of story.
Now there was this 59 elite guy in this cave. HE was fun. Did a 2 man with a 57 shammy to kill that sucker. Basically sent in VW, let him hit the guy for a sec with dots galore.. Then we went all in.. bolts/burns, shocks/lightning.. burned him down in a quick little bit. I thought he would be harder than that.. but this shammy really brought the pain. had some battle elixir and I would get a big attack boost from time to time from him. Dunno what it was, but my shadowbolt went for almost 1k one time and I said.. well, something I shouldn’t have.. he laughed and told me about the elixir. Turns out I have the recipe waiting for my alchemist as well as the mats.. I might just make me some of that for when I creep into outlands.
My wee lock has just dinged 53 last night. I burned through lvl 52 at an incredible rate. Lookin now towards BRD, and moving on. I’m still working out of Ungoro (awesome for skinners!!) I have been thinking of how me and my buddy (52 frost mage) could do mass genocide on the dinos in Ungoro, cause really.. leather sells.. sells GOOD. Probably the least appreciated gathering skill, but I’d say the best by FAR.
Now got to equip both my new Hat, and my new belt (part of the dreadmist set!!) Check Mcgoo on Medivh in Armory!!
Well during my repeat trip to Zul Far’rak last night, I dinged 50. Is this a big deal?
Yes.
While I have been putting an incredible amount of time/energy into this game, I have spread myself very very thin. I have more alternate characters (alts) than any one person should have.. here’s a short list:
So there’s a lot of work spread out on this stupid game (that I can’t stop).. I get a lot of teasing that I have at least 3 lvl 70’s if I had just went all the way through on any of these.. Which is painfully true. Mcgoo is going to be a lvl 70 heartbreaker/soultaker in the arena and in other PvP venues. If you’re 70, get the best gear you can.. Cause I’m coming for you. You can be with me or against me, but I’d advise against being an enemy..
I don’t wanna say I suck at leveling, but my skill is totally inproportionate when it comes to PvP. I am just MUCH better at that. I EASILY outdamage everyone in a PvP session. I easily outkill everyone.. I am always #1,2,or 3 in HK’s and almost always #1 in damage. I had lag so bad once that I missed a bunch and I STILL was tops in both. (You have got to love how dots work even if you aren’t.. )
Who’s next after Mcgoo hits 70? I want my mage to go up, but I worry about using 2 casters in a row. One thing is for sure, I won’t be doing anything until dropping 200g on a new character is chump change. I’ve still got a ton of gold on my lock even after my training bonanza at 50. I think my Pally will get the nod after Mcgoo is topped out. He should be sufficiently boring for me to deal with and get out of the dot and run mentality I have now. I think when I get bored with him, I’ll push the mage up.. or maybe the druid.. (see how I get all the alts?)
Well I dinged 48, and PUSHED like a madman to get to 49. I came close. I am about 70% into 48 now, and I should complete that remainder tonight maybe..
I am all out of rested xp bonus, but that doesn’t really mean too much for me if I’m not grinding, and I have a few quests I gotta push through on. I am to the point where I will start gearing down so I can PvP at 49 lvl and get what I need from the stinkin PvP vendors. I am packed with shadowy goodness for everyone to come get some..
I am planning… To finish out a quest or two, then try to get teh mallet of ZF. Its a terribly painful experience to try to get, because… 1) nobody is EVER doing this.. why? I dunno.. But nobody is ever going to kill the chick that drops the hammer.. and THEN nobody is taking the grueling path up to the altar so you can magic that stupid hammer into being the “mallet of zf”. 2) The second part is HARD.. going to that altar, there’s a blue cajillion trolls around there and I (if I remember right) had a hard time when I had a 70 hunter and a 70 holy priest with me. I made it fine, and didn’t die.. but it was by no means a cake walk. and it took FOR… EV…ER!! I’ll be trying it but still.. My first goal is to kill one of the 50 elites that drops the hammer.. If I could get 1 more guy to help me, I think it would be doable (succubus charm and then WAIL on that chick, get it and haul BUTT!!. So perhaps I can convince a buddy to help me out. Honestly I don’t care if I die there or not, I just want the hammer #1, then I can play with running/soulstoning to try to get to the altar to “sanctify” the mallet and make it viable. Why do I even care?? I have no idea. but I am going to have it just in case..
Then.. when I am 49.9.. all grinding/questing stops.. and I begin to push the orcs out of warsong gulch, and arathi basin. I am hoping to pull the tokens together to get
I think that is it, but add all that together, and I’m either blowing a week into PvP, or I am winning every freakin time for about 12 times.. oh well. These are like the pirate code.. more like guidelines.. hehe..
Well I popped from 90 something to 225 or 250 in cooking this weekend. I really burned through the gold though buying stuff. Whoever stocked mats in the AH on Medivh realm this weekend made a FORTUNE off me. I farmed as much as I could stand (boring/lazy),then I utilized my money pouch for the rest. I’m sitting good now for supplying food to my younglings who have yet to brave much of the world.
Tomorrow I should be 48, and have soulfire (the warlock’s BIG bang). I anticipate this being more fun than I can imagine, just cause I miss the big bang of aimed shot, and fireball from my other toons.
My biggest headache is that i can’t get my head around how to play this warlock right in PvE. I mean I do well, really well. But its frustrating. When I was my hunter, I would send the pet, he’d do all the damage he could muster and I’d wail on the thing with my gun… I almost never pulled aggro (if you don’t know what this means google it). With my lock, I pull aggro all the time. My voidwalker (basic tank demon) just kinda hits/taunts the enemy, but does almost no real damage. If he did SOMETHING aside from be big, blue, and goofy lookin I wouldn’t get the aggro. Alas, the solution is the felguard. Problem is to GET this pet, I’d have to ditch all my other talents and go full tilt boogie into demonology tree. He is basically a same lvl warrior that is.. well.. huge and scary lookin. He seems to have most of the cool warrior abilities, except he has a nice warlock (me) behind him wailing on the other guy. I do not want to be a demonology lock. Most in my guild are, and most i know are.. but I guarantee I could whoop them. I’m awesome in a fight, and I don’t die very often at all. I kill reasonably fast (thanks to nightfall/curse of shadows/shadowburn), not crazy fast, but fast. I found grouping troublesome, and haven’t done much of it for instances. Mostly because, I seem to be useless. I mean, in the sense that.. my damage takes TIME to work its mojo.. and in a instance, I must attack just 1 person at a time. Which is the one the big guy (warrior) is attacking. Now if the warrior was lame, or poorly geared, I could really pour it on and save his butt… But I find that’s rarely the case. I have had my run in with the hunters that make ppl hate hunters tho.. “soulstone me man..” yeah.. sure I will.. I have found the LFG UI is almost always occupied wiht people that 1) can’t handle the instance they are LFG for, or 2) just trying to pop into a group and run in 5 minutes. I am patient with LFG, but it hasn’t paid off, not even once.
I want to do a few quests in Tanaris this evening, to get to 48, then pop off to ratchet to get trained.. then come back and LFG zul farrak. (gotta remember to get the carrot quest, just in case someone HAS the hammer). I can run around in tanaris (one of my favorite zones) for weeks without running out of things i like to do. Plus there is this place I haven’t been, that’s waiting on me.. a place called.. Un’goro crater. Anyway if you do PvP in Medivh realm watch out for me later this week as I’m sure I’ll ding 49 shortly in tanaris. Right now I have a total of +150 additional damage going towards PvP. With corruption I think this will work VERY well. So look for a small gnome.. if you’re Horde, you better look HARD..
Well its been a while since I updated anyone on my wee Lock’s progress.. He made it to 47 on yesterday, and almost half way through that lvl, to be precise.
What’s next?
Well I continue to want the voodoo mask from ZulFarrak for my lil gnome, but it seems to look dark on me getting into there. I’m either with no healer or no tank, such is life. I know several of each class, but as my “on” times are not really all that standard, I don’t get to see all them on at one time. Except weekends, which is when my time is MOST erratic. My plans for Warcraft this weekend include some farming of ore’s and cooking mats..
why cooking?
Well in my everlasting lack of RTFM, I didn’t notice that my dwarf hunter (who made it to 300 cooking) could not cook a LOT of new recipes.. I assumed I could use him, like a bank/cook toon. Send him stuff, he’ll cook it. Problem is he’s 49.. and the highest recipe I can find has a minimum level requirement of… 55. So All that time with him was a waste (not really, cause it fed my pet) and now I gotta speed Mcgoo up the ladder for cooking. My biggest problem with this is that cooking mats are, on my realm, almost never in the AH. I am guessing either 1) there are no cooks, or 2) They don’t mind farming to get stuff for lower toons. Mcgoo has a cooking skill of something in the 90’s. I have a goal to have him to 300 by Monday. (I’ll post, but you could always check armory for him “Mcgoo, Medivh realm”).
Then Mining… Mostly because I am twinking a druid (why? cause I find druids funny and very versatile).. Doesn’t explain mining you say? Well its a long held notion that twinks carry engineering goggles on them, cause.. well.. cause its almost all you can get for a 19 headpiece. Expensive? yes.. Tiresome? yes.. But I’ve got a dumptruck load full of gold, and a mount speed thats pretty good so it shouldn’t take too long, if I’m lucky. If you don’t know mining gives the mats for engineering.. well… most of them anyway. So mining helps that, and mining ores is a GREAT way to get money, but usually not till 40 (when you can mount up and run like the wind).
So many things I WANT to get done.. We’ll see exactly what I’ll get done.. but those are the goals.. level up cooking and mine about 80 or so copper/ 50 or so tin.. and about 100 iron.
