Explaining myself..
Monday, June 4th, 2007For a long time I haven’t really mentioned my family. The reason is still too personal, but I did want to let everyone who reads know, they are all fine. My son came out of his surgery like a champ and much stronger than anyone ever should be.
My daughter managed to pass 4th grade.. The expression “by the skin of her teeth” comes to mind. We have assured ourselves that we will allow her to continue on to 5th grade, on a trial basis. The first 6 weeks is always mostly a review anyway, so if she does well enough for the review instead of barely skinning by, again, she’ll be okay. Otherwise she gets kicked back to 4th grade. I just don’t feel she’s been educated enough to be successful. My wife disagrees and this was more/less the compromise. I don’t want her to be held back, but I don’t want a report card filled with D’s and F’s either. Really if the chick was just dumb, I wouldn’t have had a problem. Dumb is dumb and that is forgivable. My daughter is just short of brilliant. AND pulling crap grades. This is unacceptable to me, cause I always tried my best.. and even if it was a C.. It was what I could do.
Now my oldest boy. He’s the opposite. Daughter pulled terrible grades and didn’t care.. HE pulled almost all A’s and thinks he can now walk on water. Congrats to him, and he’ll be turning 9 on Sunday (6/10) so he’s got big things coming his way.
