Well I was sitting around minding my own business in a inocuous conversation with a friend..  When I got hit

“Are you religious?”

The question had some undertones to a followup conversation I’ll mention after this..

I hate this question.  Sounds like it could be contagious doesn’t it?  Are you religious?  Do you have smallpox?.. I don’t know of a way for 2 people to convey this to each other without possibly offending (sheesh) atheists or agnostics.  Nuff said?.. okay on we go..

So to answer the question.. I think I’m really religious.  I have some die hard beliefs fostered by reading the Bible (or um.. hearing it.. since I have a 2nd graders reading ability) that can cut big gashes in people.  Like homosexuals.  While I know, and I am friends with them, they understand that my belief structure leaves little room for doubt on where they will spend eternity. Two things to understand here…

1. I am not a theologian
2. I don’t.. what is it catholics say.. I don’t “practice” my faith as I should.. yeah.. thats it

Just saying if you’re gay, the bible mentions 2 cities with homosexuality.  God blew’em up.  I don’t know if there’s a remark on if it was the homosexuality or if it was parking tickets or that they were UK fans.. but regardless.  To ME, if that town had been marked biblically by “the red shoe wearing” I would avoid red shoes on premise alone.   This is quite simply the end of my debate on it.  I think its hazey.. but the only time its mentioned really, the towns got blown up.  Period.

I am pretty strict in my views, which if you are a christian makes you “narrow minded”.  I hate this also.  Like if you were describing to a blind person what a sunrise looked like, and they told you.. To THEM how it looks..  While I respect your viewpoint that the sunrise is green with yellow/pink polka-dots on it.. I have to tell you you are WRONG.  This however would not make me narrow minded.. but accurate.

Its really, REALLY unpopular to be a christian these days.  Anyone notice how we are portrayed?  In comedy routines we’re almost always uneducated.. In video media we are always seen as backwards and foolish, or we are judgemental and crazed.  No middle ground.  Firstly, just like some atheists, communists, and agnostics are some of those things, those are not defining features of christianity.  Some people are, but didn’t your mothers ever tell you not to pick on “special” folks?  And if their being rude/mean.. whatever, why bother with them at all?

People blame the election of Bush(part deux) on christians.  IF ONLY!  Christians lack the central motivation ability of the abortion lobby.. We can’t even have a SINGLE denomination, much less have a SINGLE candidate.  What is really shocking, and I was told this just recently, is that churches.. (wait for it) can’t say  “we think xyz candidate should be elected”.. Why?  I mean IBM can support a candidate.. Microsoft can support a candidate.. But if my church does it we’re in deep poo-poo?  Thats messed up and you know it.  Separation of church and state you say?  They ARE separated.. My church makes no rules in government, and my government regulates what my church can do (candidate selection).. I think we need that last tie separated.  Honestly I don’t see the problem with religous rule.  Most religions are hardlined and have no gray area for nonsense.  This would mean it would be very easy to know how to get our help.. don’t be a jerk.  Very easy for us to blow you up.. act like a jerk, and threaten folks.  I’m a big fan of Israel and their government policies.   They are tough.. their “shoot first and ask questions later” motto is great.  I mean just look, they are in a part of the world where everyone hates them and wants to blow them up.  Yet they remain and nobody has the sac to invade them..  Thats a good setup.

Anyway.. ranting off topic.  If you’re reading and don’t know.. I am religious.  I have faith.  I’m not anyone to use as a “poster child” for a faith.. I think I do better than the average fella, but I’m not getting close to where I need to be.  If you are also religious pray for me.. If you aren’t.. go play some warcraft.. if you come to medivh server tho.. I’ll totally pwn you!

and just in case its not clear, I support no candidate of a system that is inherently broken.  All candidates are liars, and will prove themselves such in due time.  Vote for someone?  The presidential elections are just a hair off of being american idol.. Nobody cares who the best person is (best singer on idol hasn’t won since season 1), they want who they think is the most fun (like Billy Clinton.. what a total doofus, he did okay on some things but totally boned us on the rest).  If you vote.. I say vote for the old guy.. McCain.  Why?  I don’t trust Obama.. he chants change too much.. almost like a homeless guy.. and Hilary.. Oh please you can’t SERIOUSLY think she’d do ANYTHING good.  Did you see the chick her hubby went for instead of her?  I mean YIKES.  What does that say about her as a person?? to me… a lot.  She PLANTED questions to make her look better… not 1x.. but several times, jeez.  The other folks don’t matter.. McCain is stomping the Repub’s.. and cheaters-wife/homeless chanter are splitting the rest up relatively evenly.

Then understand the plight of the REAL Dad.  I am overly hands on with my son.  To the point of almost being a control freak.  I’ve said it on here before, and I repeat it.  I wanted to be a Dad since I was 10 years old.  THIS was what life was about for me.  I WANTED to hold him in my arms.  I WANTED him with me every moment.  My wife has talked to me about breaking ME of having him sleep with us (don’t freak out, he comes back there.. I just don’t deny him).

The modern consensus is that Fathers as a whole have not evolved.  Have not changed from the oddly inaccurate depiction of Ward Cleaver, where we are in our room reading/smoking while Mom does everything.  It’d be nice if life was this easy, but I didn’t have a kid so that I could let someone take care of him.  Everyday I pick him up from daycare and I tell him the same thing “I missed you ALL day!”.  Its a ritual and a truth at the same time.  He will run past his mother most times to actually get to ME.  He is in all definitions a “daddy’s boy”.

The fact that some people would intentionally write me off as a caregiver would put me to the point of being.. well, myself.  I’ve also stated that I’m NOT a nice person.  I push as hard as I can to be as nice as I am as is.  Even with all that effort, I am no where NEAR what anyone would consider “nice”.  Were someone to look at my wife and respond in kind as these individuals do, I would without hesitation ask them what kind of a shiffless loser they are married to that wouldn’t be involved in the life he helped create.  I would devolve to name calling at a speed that would rival lightspeed.

No apologies.  I was spoken down to for a LONG time among my coworkers for just being a “man”.  As if having testicles somehow precluded me from knowing how to raise a kid, or knowing how to take care of my little one(s).  I battled this furiously as this is what I was about.  This is WHY I have done all that I have done in life.  I work to provide for my family, I go to school to get more money to provide better for my family (in quiet hopes I’ll get more time with them in doing so).

I take pride in very few things in life.  My main is my family.  I have a GREAT family, extended and immediate.  I also won’t be spoken to like a 2nd class citizen just because I can’t give birth to a kid.

Well a friend I had made online suggested I add ad’s (say that 5 times fast!) to the site to try to make some money on this “unplugged” session you get when you read this blog. Well I have them, but it doesn’t seem to be popping up any kind of related ads.

So don’t feel bad if you can’t help me out by clicking ads since they are all worthless at this point. stay tuned as I fight google to give me good ads on THIS site (my other site works pretty good).

First of all.. Family is where its at.  Don’t doubt it.  If you have no family, go get a kid.  Kids always like you.  They are great, and my little 3 year old, can cure most everything I have ever had wrong with me.  Seeing his smile/dance when he sees me as he screams “DADDY!” could cure anything, and thats a fact.  I’ve walked into the back door ready to blow up on anyone close to me.  Bad days happen, and for me they are more frequent than the good ones.  This guy cures it with just either/both of those actions.

I can literally say, with a bulging disk in my back that I have been in agonizing pain.. had him do this and I really forgot about it for a while.  I am not so sure there is a medical correlation to this, or if maybe I just love that guy too much.  Truth is, I think it might be that he loves ME that much.  That I just REALLY made his whole day by coming in the back door.  He’s started to get away from this habit, but I am still fortunate enough to get this attention from time to time.  My oldest two are to the stage that they aren’t too sure they want to hug you.  They will, but there’s no dance.. no giggling..   So the lesson here is that young kids rule, older kids suck.

I am overwhelmed mostly with the love from my family.  I have wanted this family for most of my life now, and reaping in the pain/love is more than I had even hoped for.   I had wanted to be a dad for SO long, and to have it be this real to me is just fantastic.

I’m not perfect, or would I say I was.  I do the best I can, and I am just really appreciating my family and all the crazy/adorable/mean/hateful/insightful/intelligent/wonderful/caring/emotional things they do.. Which is what makes you guys ROCK in a major way

Ya know, I’m not huge on video online. I watch it, but its hard to get time to watch ALL the stuff I’d like to see. I tried to always make time for the show “InDigital” with some The Screen Savers alum, and some trekkie guy (hehe, jk)

Why on earth is it sometimes so impossible for you to just leave things alone in your head?  I mean as hard as you try and the older you get somethings just don’t seem to age or blur from time.  I really wish I knew so that I could remove that stuff.  I am prone to doing things I regret due to hot-headedness but that is not a “point of pride”, its just truth.

Truth should be what all people deal in.  I would have infinitely more respect for anyone that would just be truthful with me all the time, all the stupidity of the world seems to stain me in such a way I can’t shake loose anymore.  Religously I am stagnated.  I am in great need for myself to come full circle and get back to the principles I was raised with along with the ones I forged for myself.  They aren’t gone, or forgotten.. just overlooked.

If you aren’t a Christian (notice I specified a branch of relgion and not blanket relgious), I really wonder how you get through the day.  I have not seen anything from a 3rd party viewing perspective that made any religion, or lack of to seem to be all that re-assuring, or even close to believable.

If you’re like me and have left the church for a while, make a goal to come back this Sunday 7/15, and get yourself right.  It won’t be fun.. Probably won’t be very easy either.  It IS something you should do, and you know it.

If you are NOT a christian, or hold any religion at all.. Get one.  I can’t seem to find any point in history when atheism was a founding function, more or less it is always something that the incredibly pompous come up with to try to be different and separate themselves from the way things are.

If you are a christian, and don’t go to church cause you think its “corrupt” or “all about money” (the 2 big excuses I hear).. Try another church.  If your church requires you to tithe, its not a church.. Its a business.  Tithing is something God deserves, and requires.  Its up to HIM to enforce.  Churches should remind you of this, but no “bruno will take your offering, or your left pinky finger”.  Churches have bills, and even the smallest rinky-dinky church has some outreach program.. Your tithe goes to that.  You know what, if you don’t go to church and don’t want to.. send a check to a church.

Right now its en vogue for you to hate Christians and their church, and most sheep will follow that herd.  What has a church ever done to be so hated?  They help poor.. (not all of the poor but they do help some).. They give counseling to its members (most do anyway..) They try to spread their beliefs (hopefully without bruno’s help)..   Even if you decide to be atheist, or some other crazy idea.. Like the Flying Spaghetti Monster.. I think if you felt passionately that your beliefs were all that separated all your friends/acquaintances from eternal torment, you’d probably be hocking that crap too.

Wil Wheaton’s blog references that the christians are in some way bad or to blame for the wild hatred the conditions of things.  That we should keep our noses out of politics, etc..  Well if Pro-choice has a lobby, shouldn’t Pro-Life?  If Pro-death penalty has a lobby shouldn’t Pro-”keep the jerk alive” have a lobby?  Don’t get all whiney that the christian lobby actually helped get a president into office, instead of the typical “they hate abortion.. shootem” mentality the nation usually takes.  Personally.. I don’t do politics.  Systems’ broke, and my vote won’t fix it.  I can’t see any real change that the past several administration’s have really made.  Clinton gets pats on the back for prosperity, but his office was during the .com buzz (which busted around the time he was leaving office) and then bush got the rep for the economy sucking.. Its all bull.  We elect rich people who smile and say they’ll help, and they don’t.  What they do is get more rich, and we get more poor.  I see no great advantage 1 candidate has over another.. I am in Ipac though.. I don’t like the ideas going around like “I can’t back up my DvD’s..” not YOUR DVD’s.. MY DVD’s.  Thats stupid.. Thats really, really stupid. (ahem, Clinton passed that law by the way)..

I was, like most guys my age, a HUGE transformers fan. The unrealistic nature of a car turning into a 20 foot tall robot was really believable in cartoons. When I heard that this movie was “live action”, I immediately thought.. LAME. No reason to see it, it’ll be on video in a week I can rent it then for a few bucks.

Oh how wrong I was..

This movie really blew me away! I was expecting something stupid and pointless, and the movie was really, REALLY good. The acting by everyone was pretty good, too. I’m not saying Optimus Prime for an Oscar.. Just sayin it was good. The male lead was good, typical goofy guy etc.. The plot was razor thin. Which is good for an action movie, cause too much plot weakens the explosions.. why? I dunno.. it does though. Looking for some “cube”, that turns stuff into robots (when worked right). The effects were rediculously awesome. It totally took things to the next level and changed my perspective on effects as a whole.

The most unbelievable part of the movie, was that the female lead.. would fall for the male lead. (note, I’m not using names.. well cause I don’t want to.. if you want names hit IMDB) She was H-O-T in a major way, a bit too much really. Like I said, she was the unbelievable one in the movie. I liked the way everything worked together in the movie though. I don’t see anyone as a “star” of it.. I mean.. There was SO much going on, all the time. It was just action packed to tell the truth

Did I tell you the chick was hot? OH and there is a nerd chick in it, who is WAY too hot to be a real nerd. So thats 2x’s unbelievable.. ( I mean, if the ladies involved in a film are the things out of place when its a movie about ROBOTS turning into CARS.. thats a good movie)

Well Stargate SG-1 aired its final episode Friday, and it was totally lame. TOTALLY.

Not only did it seem like a regular season show (no real plot hook, etc..) but it avoided COMPLETELY the story of the Ori envasion (well sorta)..  The Ori were in it, but they were a plot device and not a major focus of development.  So I was not only bummed to crap about the show being over ( I didn’t cry, that I’d admit).. But then to find out the show itself was lame.. how rediculous..

THEN

I went to gateworld.com (a must place for stargate fans), and apparently there are 2 movies in the works for Stargate SG-1..  The second appears to be the one that will “deal” with the Ori, finally.  I am expecting great things..

Now it makes sense, they didn’t wanna blow some story for either movie at the end of this dang season (BOO Sci-Fi Channel!!! BOO!!).. But still.. Why not put in there.. Look forward to SG-1 “Continuum”.. or something like that

I have watched this show like a freakin cult worshipper since it started (luckily I had girlfriends with showtime, cause I had no such thing).. I’m not going to say I would stick with a chick just to watch this show.. but.. well its out there..you make a judgement..

Anyway I still missed some of pretty much each of the first 5 seasons.. So.. I bought them on DVD.  Now I have 1-5, and need to get the next 5 so I have the whole set, right?  well i will anyway so bite me.

SG-1 was cool, now all I have is atlantis.. (yawn)..

Get out of Iraq?  get more INTO Iraq?  and maybe we should go after Iran?

Honestly, who cares.  I love that America has the feeling that the voters are in charge, but I am afraid that hasn’t been so for a LONG time.  We just vote for the guy we “like” most.  And if you poll voters, I’m sure a poll wouldn’t be hard, most voters know… maybe 2, or 3 issues  of the candidate they chose.  So he’s against abortion, and for prayer in school.. but only to Satan.. hm.. perhaps the fine print held more than just uninteresting dribble.

Ah but THIS party wants us out of Iraq.. Well thats good, oh but didn’t the whole world think we were sissies and “wedgie-able” after we ran for it in Vietnam?  Yeah they kinda did.  So the opposition to that thought would say.. Well our choices are bully, or pansy.  Choose.

Well a pansy gets the crap kicked out of themselves constantly by everyone with an interest in doing so… A bully kicks the crap out of everyone till they gather up and overthrow him.

Which is better?  Both in the end get the crap kicked out of them, just one does it constantly to a lesser degree, one gets it 1 time REAL bad.

Personally I vote for bully, even though I think Iraq is a done deal.  If they can’t stand on their own they would fall anyway.  Iran?  I wanna say screw the whole middle east, as their religion requires them to pretty much hate the US anyway.  Unfortunately our money-grubbing “of/for/by the people” elected officials are all so dirty with oil money they would NEVER allow instability where their pockets are concerned..

Dirty politicians.. do they come any other way?
