B. Hudson

Well I got something in the email today.. something.. awesome.

Turns out my youngest brother will (at least attempt) to come to my dad’s for Thanksgiving.  The other 2 are there now already (Dr Hudson, and inmate #7867545 (j/k)), so on thanksgiving, there will be a gathering.. one unseen for many years.

All 4 brothers in the same place at the same time.  If you are in Charlotte at that time, look to the darkening sky and feel afraid.  God only knows what we’ll do, LOL!!

I’m really pumped, as this brother is most like me (less about 200lbs) and the brother I connected with the most often, and most sincere.  Dr Hudson is kinda busy.. Well.. trying to get to being a Dr.  And the inmate?  crap I dunno.  That guy seems to have it all, and has no idea what to do with it (legally, that is).

Dr Hudson was recently married and I missed it, so I’m hoping to have enough scratch to give him something for his wedding when I get there..  Finances being what they are I somewhat doubt it, but still.

Well I’ve been in felwood for what seems like years, but actually only about a full level.  I am so SICK of this place.  Mobs spread out.. No one seems to be high enough level.. boring boring boring.

Not much in the way of leather or ores for me to mine either.  So what results is, the main cash cow of this area is felcloth.  And the schmucks it drops from are these ridiculous nimrods in jadefire something or other.  Anyway, their droprate is pretty low to boot, but this is (as told to me) the only place to really grab this stuff.  The mobs I was looking for were being farmed by some 70’s helping guildies out, so I had no chance.  So I went running up there to farm for felcloth.  I was doing my hellfire farming technique, which involves at least 4 mobs.. all with siphon life, and corruption and then me standing amidst them doing hellfire.  This works GREAT for skinning, and the siphon life refills my life little by little to negate SOME of the hellfire affect.  I can do it with more mobs without issue if I have a healer.. and this is an incredibly effective grinding technique, provided you have a priest that will overheal you to keep your hellfire pumping.

The place I needed to go to was Jaedenar (or something) and there are mostly casters (candy) and demons(uber-candy).  Imps are a 1 shot with shadowburn, so I love those guys, where the felhunters/guards are more of an issue.  Felhunters I use the VW to tank first while I drain tank someone close.  THEN I drop the boom on them with shadowbolt/burn’s.  These suckers do a move called manaburn, which sucks but isn’t huge.. unless you’re a lock and that means I have to drain my life to get more mana, ergo this move is like a decent attack to me.  If you let the VW tank long enough, the felhunter will drain VW’s mana, and not mine.  This is tricky though cause sometimes they just turn around and manaburn me.

Felguards are nice.. I grouped with a guy after I was done, and enslaved one to attack another one.. and just laughed..  He was like.. you are clearing a room without us doing anything.. to which I said.. “Yeah but if you see him turn around wail on him!”.  The felguards don’t really shock me with power, but they are huge and really meancing looking.  VW works for me, I just sprinkle some dots, drain.. and if nightfall proc’s.. BOOM.. end of story.

Now there was this 59 elite guy in this cave.  HE was fun.  Did a 2 man with a 57 shammy to kill that sucker.   Basically sent in VW, let him hit the guy for a sec with dots galore..  Then we went all in.. bolts/burns, shocks/lightning.. burned him down in a quick little bit.  I thought he would be harder than that.. but this shammy really brought the pain.  had some battle elixir and I would get a big attack boost from time to time from him.  Dunno what it was, but my shadowbolt went for almost 1k one time and I said.. well, something I shouldn’t have.. he laughed and told me about the elixir.  Turns out I have the recipe waiting for my alchemist as well as the mats.. I might just make me some of that for when I creep into outlands.

Well I am more than halfway through 55 as of last night.  I am pushing more and more desperately towards outlands.  Towards the piles of gold, and adventure I might have being in an area designed for my betters (I just kinda assume outlands has an expected character to be about 60, and I’ll go as soon as I can get my gnomish behind through the portal).

My gear is crap

So I am thinking I need to be “sup’d up” a bit before I go messin around with the bigger dogs in outlands.  My plan is, since I now have MOST of the mats for a robe (Robe of Winters Night) that I might finish my q’s in felwood and collect the last 4 felcloths I need to get the complete mats list for the robe.  At this point I should have a good robe/bracer/belt/gloves.  I am desperately wanting a good off hand to run into outlands with.  I purchased a dagger with great stats PLUS a damage increase for spells, so I figure if I can get an orb of whos-a-ma-whats-it that does the same, I’ll be doing great.

I found a blood elf in ungoro last night fighting above his level.. (preface:  I hate blood elves, I don’t know why, but I am a believer in wiping them out totally).  So I waited as he agro’d 3 flying dino’s and I cursed them with recklessness.. (LOL!!) and watched as he used everything he had to stay in it.  I sat down and jeered him.  (I know, I know.. mean).  He never died, but he came really close.  He spit on me a few times which I laughed off since I can take the devilsaur now solo.  Bout the only thing in Ungoro I can’t handle is the fire elemental (56 elite) in the cave in the center.  He has some SICK resist abilities.  I mean my shadowbolt hits (at level) around 600.. and he was taking hits for about 300.. so about half of my damage was negated.

I hate ungoro crater.. I hate morrowgrain, and the stupid soil that grows it.  BUT, as a skinner, this place is a gold mine.  I can see me in a few levels coming back to ungoro agro’ing the whole ape area into one spot and doing hellfire to clear the mobs (a few life siphons should keep it from being painful for me).  And then loot/skin like a madman.

I have heard, the money is in the AH.. buy low, sell high.  So far I just attack the AH with 12 stacks of leather and then reap in all the money I get in the end.  I miss out from the lack of engineering though I think.  I would REALLY like to have some grenades, and some of the other cool stuff.. (gnomish death ray!!).  But thats just life for right now, when I get a good enough pile of money, I’ll drop skinning and power through engineering to get all that I want.. Then pick skinning back up when I want the money again (its so easy to power through skinning if you have AoE stuff’s).  I am just 55, but haven’t seen any other AoE as powerful as hellfire.  Mage’s can run around, sure.. but I just don’t see the numbers there in big groups as with hellfire.  If I were to go nuts and get some fire gear, and equip a firestone to do it.. I am just saying.. it does relentless damage to people now, and I’m only buffed for shadow damage.  I’m thinking.. with a few healers.. i could solo zul farrak using fire dmg gear and hellfire.  Especially the temple “event” when you get mobbed by 900 people.. LOL.

I find myself wanting to be a leatherworker though.. and a tailor.   I think there isn’t enough spellthread, or that knothide/cobrahide armor stuff..  If its outthere people are keeping it QUIET!!  I saw runic spellthread (what I wanted more than anything for 49 PvP) in the AH last night.. guess how much??  250g (bid) 390 (buyout).  Imagine that?  I don’t know about spellthread but leather is the easiest thing on earth to come by.  I will probably level a tailor/skinner next.  I want a tailor/skinner cause.. well cause ppl drop cloth for tailoring, animals drop leather for skinners.  Then I’ll have most of the gathering prof’s down and can start MAKING stuff.  Mining/skinning (lock), skinning/tailoring(?).. Smithing/engineering(pally), tailoring/enchanting(mage)..

So now I wonder what toon should become what I want and be a tailor/skinner?  I am thinking maybe warrior, but that is a scary thought for me.  I LOVE watching a warrior run into an instance and be crazy and attack everything in the room, then balance aggro so we (clothies) don’t get killed.  It seems fun, but I doubt it is.  Maybe a hunter!!?!?!?  I miss my hunter so so so much.  He’s just for PvP now and I’ve invested a lot of gold in that endeavor too..  Willing to do more too, just need some items to show up in AH and its a done deal.

ah well.. back to grinding with the lock!

My wee lock has just dinged 53 last night.  I burned through lvl 52 at an incredible rate.  Lookin now towards BRD, and moving on.  I’m still working out of Ungoro (awesome for skinners!!)  I have been thinking of how me and my buddy (52 frost mage) could do mass genocide on the dinos in Ungoro, cause really.. leather sells.. sells GOOD.  Probably the least appreciated gathering skill, but I’d say the best by FAR.

Now got to equip both my new Hat, and my new belt (part of the dreadmist set!!)  Check Mcgoo on Medivh in Armory!!

I am big on pushing my assertions to be universal.. They aren’t. (note: this is the only time I will admit this.. don’t even try it a 2nd time)

I am mostly inspired by this blog regarding a list for happiness

1. Take responsibility to what you do, and don’t be ashamed.. You aren’t the first one to do it, and definitely not the last.. if you keep doing it, and can’t stop, try
2. NEVER (yeah I said never) take responsibility in a relationship for something you feel you didn’t do.
3. Laugh.. often.  Sometimes without reason  (it keeps people off guard)
4. If you notice “the whole world does…” do the exact opposite.  Trends are for sheep, and sheep are the dumbest animals on the face of the earth..
5. Buy a lumberjack shirt.   No real reason for it, but I love seeing people in the plaid shirts and just don’t care what you think.  Do that, just make sure its clean
6. If you have kids, get on your hands/knees and play with them 1 hour every day.  Consequently, if you don’t want to do this.. don’t have kids.
7. Stop talking to shrinks and taking crazy pills.. It is probably only really necessary for about 300 people.. and they are all in congress.  You should have friends.. Talk to them.  If you have a spouse, that is who you should talk to.  If it is about someone, talk to the person it is about.  If your just hearing voices, or wake up naked in subway tunnels in a strange city..then take the pills.
8. Marriage is a trap!  but it is also the most rewarding times of your life.  high school sucked, if you had “the time of your life” in high school.. You suck.  Marriage is waking up realizing your breath is funk-ified and having someone kiss you and not throw up.  The trap is when YOU have to do the kissing..
9. Let your past go.  (this helps with #7).  If you did something crappy, or great.. that was then.  Move on.  “what have you done for me lately” should be on your mp3 player (not an ipod, or again.. you suck {remember #4})
10. If you have kids, watch them.  Almost like a stalker.  So some crazy person doesn’t try to take them, and so they don’t do something crazy (they are kids, remember?)
11. Acknowledge you are going to die.. Then get over it.  Everyone will do it, and it can’t be part of rule #4.  Don’t go nuts and try bungee jumping just because everyone will, mind you.. ’cause then you might answer that question “life after death?” sooner than you’d like..
12. Go to a church.  If you don’t have a religion pick one and go there.  Church people tend to be some of the nicest people I have met.  If you go to the church and they suck, go to a new one..
13. Try things you wouldn’t normally want to because of the cost.  Cuban Cigar if you can get on.. If you like chocolate go nuts and get some of the GOOD stuff.  The stuff that makes Hersheys look like poodle poop.  Or.. a good 30yr single malt scotch. 
14. (note  see the linked blog’s notice about expensive underwear)  While I do not have any I see the validity of the point.
15. Tell your most humiliating story as often as you can, you’ll notice it just becomes funny.. and not so humiliating
16. Be honest with yourself.. and others when possible (some people would die if they knew how you really felt, maybe best you left them alone so if the weight of your deception bears on you.. you won’t destroy someone)
17. If someone in your life causes you problems.. Problems you can almost not take anymore.  Leave them behind.  Its hard because sometimes those people mean the most to us, but you can NEVER help someone by being their scapegoat or punching bag.  And if you could, it wouldn’t be worth it for YOU.
18. When you hear bad news, laugh.  As a reflex.  (I don’t know why but it really takes the edge off)
19. laugh.. a lot
20. Find a game you like and get horribly addicted to it (I don’t do this.. not at all)
21. Tell everyone you Love, that you love them.  Tell them often and make sure they understand you mean it.

Why on earth is it sometimes so impossible for you to just leave things alone in your head?  I mean as hard as you try and the older you get somethings just don’t seem to age or blur from time.  I really wish I knew so that I could remove that stuff.  I am prone to doing things I regret due to hot-headedness but that is not a “point of pride”, its just truth.

Truth should be what all people deal in.  I would have infinitely more respect for anyone that would just be truthful with me all the time, all the stupidity of the world seems to stain me in such a way I can’t shake loose anymore.  Religously I am stagnated.  I am in great need for myself to come full circle and get back to the principles I was raised with along with the ones I forged for myself.  They aren’t gone, or forgotten.. just overlooked.

If you aren’t a Christian (notice I specified a branch of relgion and not blanket relgious), I really wonder how you get through the day.  I have not seen anything from a 3rd party viewing perspective that made any religion, or lack of to seem to be all that re-assuring, or even close to believable.

If you’re like me and have left the church for a while, make a goal to come back this Sunday 7/15, and get yourself right.  It won’t be fun.. Probably won’t be very easy either.  It IS something you should do, and you know it.

If you are NOT a christian, or hold any religion at all.. Get one.  I can’t seem to find any point in history when atheism was a founding function, more or less it is always something that the incredibly pompous come up with to try to be different and separate themselves from the way things are.

If you are a christian, and don’t go to church cause you think its “corrupt” or “all about money” (the 2 big excuses I hear).. Try another church.  If your church requires you to tithe, its not a church.. Its a business.  Tithing is something God deserves, and requires.  Its up to HIM to enforce.  Churches should remind you of this, but no “bruno will take your offering, or your left pinky finger”.  Churches have bills, and even the smallest rinky-dinky church has some outreach program.. Your tithe goes to that.  You know what, if you don’t go to church and don’t want to.. send a check to a church.

Right now its en vogue for you to hate Christians and their church, and most sheep will follow that herd.  What has a church ever done to be so hated?  They help poor.. (not all of the poor but they do help some).. They give counseling to its members (most do anyway..) They try to spread their beliefs (hopefully without bruno’s help)..   Even if you decide to be atheist, or some other crazy idea.. Like the Flying Spaghetti Monster.. I think if you felt passionately that your beliefs were all that separated all your friends/acquaintances from eternal torment, you’d probably be hocking that crap too.

Wil Wheaton’s blog references that the christians are in some way bad or to blame for the wild hatred the conditions of things.  That we should keep our noses out of politics, etc..  Well if Pro-choice has a lobby, shouldn’t Pro-Life?  If Pro-death penalty has a lobby shouldn’t Pro-”keep the jerk alive” have a lobby?  Don’t get all whiney that the christian lobby actually helped get a president into office, instead of the typical “they hate abortion.. shootem” mentality the nation usually takes.  Personally.. I don’t do politics.  Systems’ broke, and my vote won’t fix it.  I can’t see any real change that the past several administration’s have really made.  Clinton gets pats on the back for prosperity, but his office was during the .com buzz (which busted around the time he was leaving office) and then bush got the rep for the economy sucking.. Its all bull.  We elect rich people who smile and say they’ll help, and they don’t.  What they do is get more rich, and we get more poor.  I see no great advantage 1 candidate has over another.. I am in Ipac though.. I don’t like the ideas going around like “I can’t back up my DvD’s..” not YOUR DVD’s.. MY DVD’s.  Thats stupid.. Thats really, really stupid. (ahem, Clinton passed that law by the way)..

Well during my repeat trip to Zul Far’rak last night, I dinged 50. Is this a big deal?

Yes.

While I have been putting an incredible amount of time/energy into this game, I have spread myself very very thin. I have more alternate characters (alts) than any one person should have.. here’s a short list:

• 2 on Gurubashi (teens lvl)
• 2 on Frostmane (teen, hoping to twink up with a buddy)
• 3 on Eonar (friends there, but I’ve neglected them.. now they hate me )
• 1 (49 twink) Medivh (Dwarfenstuff)
• here’s the list.. ready? (all on medivh) 1 teen pally, 1 priest(not yet teen), 1 druid (teen), 1 rogue (teen), 1 mage (20’s), 1 shaman (alliance, but teens)
• and mcgoo on Medivh (now 50)

So there’s a lot of work spread out on this stupid game (that I can’t stop).. I get a lot of teasing that I have at least 3 lvl 70’s if I had just went all the way through on any of these.. Which is painfully true. Mcgoo is going to be a lvl 70 heartbreaker/soultaker in the arena and in other PvP venues. If you’re 70, get the best gear you can.. Cause I’m coming for you. You can be with me or against me, but I’d advise against being an enemy..

I don’t wanna say I suck at leveling, but my skill is totally inproportionate when it comes to PvP. I am just MUCH better at that. I EASILY outdamage everyone in a PvP session. I easily outkill everyone.. I am always #1,2,or 3 in HK’s and almost always #1 in damage. I had lag so bad once that I missed a bunch and I STILL was tops in both. (You have got to love how dots work even if you aren’t.. )

Who’s next after Mcgoo hits 70? I want my mage to go up, but I worry about using 2 casters in a row. One thing is for sure, I won’t be doing anything until dropping 200g on a new character is chump change. I’ve still got a ton of gold on my lock even after my training bonanza at 50. I think my Pally will get the nod after Mcgoo is topped out. He should be sufficiently boring for me to deal with and get out of the dot and run mentality I have now. I think when I get bored with him, I’ll push the mage up.. or maybe the druid.. (see how I get all the alts?)

I was, like most guys my age, a HUGE transformers fan. The unrealistic nature of a car turning into a 20 foot tall robot was really believable in cartoons. When I heard that this movie was “live action”, I immediately thought.. LAME. No reason to see it, it’ll be on video in a week I can rent it then for a few bucks.

Oh how wrong I was..

This movie really blew me away! I was expecting something stupid and pointless, and the movie was really, REALLY good. The acting by everyone was pretty good, too. I’m not saying Optimus Prime for an Oscar.. Just sayin it was good. The male lead was good, typical goofy guy etc.. The plot was razor thin. Which is good for an action movie, cause too much plot weakens the explosions.. why? I dunno.. it does though. Looking for some “cube”, that turns stuff into robots (when worked right). The effects were rediculously awesome. It totally took things to the next level and changed my perspective on effects as a whole.

The most unbelievable part of the movie, was that the female lead.. would fall for the male lead. (note, I’m not using names.. well cause I don’t want to.. if you want names hit IMDB) She was H-O-T in a major way, a bit too much really. Like I said, she was the unbelievable one in the movie. I liked the way everything worked together in the movie though. I don’t see anyone as a “star” of it.. I mean.. There was SO much going on, all the time. It was just action packed to tell the truth

Did I tell you the chick was hot? OH and there is a nerd chick in it, who is WAY too hot to be a real nerd. So thats 2x’s unbelievable.. ( I mean, if the ladies involved in a film are the things out of place when its a movie about ROBOTS turning into CARS.. thats a good movie)

I mean woh.. that hot..
