					<description>Professions, eh?  First off, congrats for managing to stay with just farming ones until you're past 35 - I find that production professions are much more rewarding after 225 and now you're not stuck there while levelling :)

As for Engineering in specific it's the one I don't have, but I ponder picking it up as some of my friends have it in the guild and they can do neat things.

Engineering is especially good (PvP and) for toons that don't have a ranged attack, or don't have strong burst attacks - Paladins and Warlocks, for example.  The bombs and dynamite and other things like that do very well to supplement functionality that is otherwise lacking in the class.  

I think if I were to choose a production profession on a new set of toons on a new realm these days, I'd go with Alchemy, because potions can be used by every toon you create, and those other toons can be "grown up" with thanks to the buffs and they can take care of other professions.

But of course, knowing what I know now, I would also start a small "family" of toons right away on a new server, and pick up multiple farming and production professions on them.  I find that having a higher level farmer and a lower level production toon works best, although I do tend to lock out my professions at max long before I get anywhere near the level that I can advance the max.
