Lvl 39 gnome lock-meister

I am now lvl 39.  Feel my power!!

hehe.. well not really.  But I think its a good sign that in several LESS days in grinding/questing I have made it within reach of my 49 character.  On average I spend (according to WoW) about 2hours or so at each level since 30.  Not too shabby I don’t think.  I am doing great, and have a crapload of gold.  Which is odd cause my original character never had this much till he was mid 40 saving for a mount.  I’ll probably give my buddy some gold so he can get his mount.  Some because I think it’d be nice to do, some because when he hits 40 he can port (you see where I’m going eh?).

Anyway, I am still according to most ppl a “farmer”.  I do skinning/mining.  WANTING to go to engineering, but don’t know when I should go ahead with that.  if anyone has advice.. (val) lemme know!!

Professions, eh? First off, congrats for managing to stay with just farming ones until you’re past 35 - I find that production professions are much more rewarding after 225 and now you’re not stuck there while levelling :)

As for Engineering in specific it’s the one I don’t have, but I ponder picking it up as some of my friends have it in the guild and they can do neat things.

Engineering is especially good (PvP and) for toons that don’t have a ranged attack, or don’t have strong burst attacks - Paladins and Warlocks, for example. The bombs and dynamite and other things like that do very well to supplement functionality that is otherwise lacking in the class.

I think if I were to choose a production profession on a new set of toons on a new realm these days, I’d go with Alchemy, because potions can be used by every toon you create, and those other toons can be “grown up” with thanks to the buffs and they can take care of other professions.

But of course, knowing what I know now, I would also start a small “family” of toons right away on a new server, and pick up multiple farming and production professions on them. I find that having a higher level farmer and a lower level production toon works best, although I do tend to lock out my professions at max long before I get anywhere near the level that I can advance the max.

Let us know what you decide :)
